Just because you’ve moved into a townhouse doesn’t mean you can’t have a gorgeous outdoor space and thriving garden! One of the best things about owning a townhouse however, is how low maintenance your lifestyle becomes, so here is some inspiration on courtyards you can enjoy all year round without the hassle.
The best way to add some greenery to your courtyard is with pot plants! Nothing to mow and barely anything to weed. Find low maintenance plants which thrive in shade or sun, depending on your choice of placement, and use some funky pots as features in your outdoor area. If you’re placing your pots on concrete, pavers or timber, just remember to put something underneath as the excess moisture from watering has the potential to ruin the surface.

The flow of breezy outdoor curtains soften the space so much and add a touch of luxury. Attach some mosquito net or tarp curtains to your balcony or patio and style with fisherman’s rope, a chain, ribbon or outdoor curtain clip to reflect your own personal style. Pair with some festoon lights and your’e ready to entertain.

The typical design of a townhouse features more length than width. To maximise space and practicality, fill your space with longer furniture that is more rectangular as opposed to square and ensure you pair your set with chairs that can tuck in. This not only gives you so much more space to move around, but also offers you the chance to style your table with an ongoing centerpiece for your next party.

Generally, an entrance to a home is narrow, so to make the space look bigger and more inviting, use a large mirror in your hallway to create the illusion of openness. Pair with a simple vase and perhaps a large bowl to avoid clutter of keys and wallets in other spaces of your home.
Select furniture which reflects a neutral colour palette, giving you the option to easily change themes as you please later on. Decorate and layer with complementing colours and don’t forget to use lots of different textures to create a warm and inviting feeling. A simple glass vase and some fresh flowers will always add temporary life to a room but you can chose to invest in a variety of some good quality faux florals to switch up your decor as see fit. You can shop this post below to see what we recommend.
It is important to maximise the amount of space your dining area offers whilst also accommodating a general number of seating you feel you may need. If you feel like you don’t often entertain, opt for a 4 – 6 seater dining table which will open up the space you have significantly.
If you require more seating space, select a table style which compliments the configuration of your floor plan. If the area is more square than narrow, than perhaps a round or square table is the better option.
Make your bed look and feel like a cloud with overstuffed cushions and pillows. Once again, different sizes, colours and textures create an effect of coziness, so layer European pillows and breakfast cushions in an arrangement which best compliments your bedding and colour theme.
To achieve the ‘hotel’ look of luxury, purchase ‘Queen’ sized pillows and stuff them into a regular sized pillow case. This will ensure no lose corners and allow each pillow to stand up or lay down as you mould them without slugging.
The finishes on your bathroom already make your home look stylish and sleek but to personalise the space, we like to chose a household scent of handwash and lotion and arrange the toiletries on a tray to minimise clutter and mess when used. Adding some soft handtowels also adds texture and warmth to the space.

Nine kilometres of new roads, 22 hectares of reserves and sporting ovals, 3 playgrounds, 2,500 trees and 9.2 kilometres of walking and cycling paths are amongst the community infrastructure and amenities created at St Clair, with developers AVJennings completing all civil works this week.
To mark the milestone, we’ve created a new video that highlights our beautiful part of the world. Click here to watch.
It’s nine years since work on the St Clair development began, and more than $50 million has been spent on community facilities and amenities including a new multi-million dollar Town Centre and a new $2.5 million sporting oval.
At the heart of St Clair is one of South Australia’s largest urban wetlands, which provides connection to a network of landscaped gardens, walking and cycling trails, playing fields, green open spaces.
Completion of the 5.64 hectares of wetland has seen the establishment of more than 200,000 aquatic plants, with around 500 Olympic swimming pools of water (1.2 gigalitres) collected, stored and recycled every year.
St Clair is now home to more than 2,000 residents, with a further 1,000 residents to be living in the new suburb upon completion.
With all the infrastructure and community amenities complete, AVJennings has released the final land lots at St Clair onto the market, with the release of more pre-planned townhouse precincts to continue over the next few years.
Full completion of all homes at St Clair is expected in 2021.
The final land lots at St Clair have been released to the market which marks a major milestone for our new suburb – now home to more than 2,000 residents.
The first land release at St Clair took place on October 25, 2008 with the first 25 lots selling in a single day.
The final staged land release at St Clair, aptly titled The Silks Release, is located off Hill Smith Boulevard. It comprises 38 lots ranging in size from 280m2 to 463m2, with prices starting from $299,000. Lot frontages range from 10 – 15 metres and suit a variety of homes.
Display builders at St Clair offer a range of suitable home designs for lots in The Silks land release.

AVJennings State Manager, Brian Virgo, says St Clair is now a mature community with new residents benefiting immediately from established infrastructure and amenities.
“Completing the civil works, including 9 kilometres of road network and two new dedicated junctions or entry points into the suburb, is a major milestone,” explains Mr Virgo.
“The suburb is now home to 880 completed dwellings including detached houses, townhouses and apartments with a further 80 dwellings currently under construction.”
He says St Clair continues to flourish because of its innovative housing, well designed public spaces and amenities, which combine to create a vibrant and diverse community.
“We offer a range of options for people looking for their dream house and make St Clair their home.”
